The Golden Ticket
The year began on a high note. I received a Golden Ticket and was invited to meet with Amazon regarding the Merch By Amazon (MBA) program, along with other high-volume sellers. We signed Non Disclosure Agreements (NDAs), but let me tell you, it made me even prouder to be part of this passive income opportunity. They designed a shirt for us and treated us to a lovely dinner with delicious desserts! We shared our thoughts and suggestions, and I must say, certain aspects of Merch had previously annoyed me, but the team’s passion and dedication changed my perspective.
A Detour for Growth
Merch By Amazon took my business on a complete detour in late 2016. It offered immense potential, and I focused on it immediately. To date, I’ve sold nearly 10,000 shirts on Amazon, something I never imagined as a significant part of my income stream. But this detour was a blessing in disguise because it prevented me from making a big mistake.
I had initially planned to create a site about selling online courses from WordPress, but forcing myself into a niche I wasn’t passionate about was a bad idea. Thank you, Amazon, for saving me from that potential failure!
Beginning the PSP Journey
When I launched Passive Shirt Profits (PSP) in June last year, I knew social media wouldn’t be a primary marketing tool. That might seem bizarre in 2018, but if you know me, you understand that social media marketing has never been my forte. Marketing generally hasn’t been either. The key is that being good at teaching and making videos doesn’t automatically translate to effective online sales.
I decided to start with podcasting, challenging the "be everywhere" strategy many newcomers feel compelled to follow. My goal was to commit to weekly podcasting to see if it drew people into my courses. I launched my first show in May 2017.
Sales Take Off!
The initial launch of PSP was a success. Offering a bundle package at a lower price than the individual course prices proved popular, with most customers opting for the bundle. In the first three days, I made more than I typically made on Udemy in a month (without Udemy discounts).
